“Push,” the latest film from director Lee Daniels recently landed a rare and sweet triple victory last weekend at the Sundance Film Festival, according to the Los Angeles Times. The film, based on the novel by Sapphire, is about a young woman, Precious Jones, finding her way out of horrific circumstances in 1980’s Harlem. Daniels, who is best known for producing the Oscar-winning “Monster’s Ball” helped bring the book to life with actresses Mo’Nique and Paula Patton in starring roles. Push is a winner of the Grand Jury prize and the Audience Award for drama as well as a Special Jury prize for acting at the famed Park City, Utah, festival. —BB
