Yesterday the world learned that the Disco Queen Donna Summer died of lung cancer at the age of 63. Fans and celebrities have been tweeting and Facebooking their condolences. In light of the legend’s passing, President Obama has released a statement.

It reads, “Michelle and I were saddened to hear about the passing of Donna Summer. A five-time Grammy Award winner, Donna truly was the ‘Queen of Disco.’ Her voice was unforgettable, and the music industry has lost a legend far too soon.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Donna’s family and her dedicated fans.”

So far, Summer’s family has scheduled a pubic memorial for the late singer in Nashville, Tennessee next Wednesday May 23, according to TMZ. Apparently, Nashville was chosen because of Summer’s roots there. She moved to the Music City in 1994.
