What do a teenage makeup expert, a comedian and a self-proclaimed professional nerd have in common? They’re all on YouTube, and they’re all about to meet the President of the United States.
President Obama is turning to YouTube for help reaching out to teens, tweens, and this country’s youth. Two days after his State of the Union address, the POTUS will sit down with the three YouTuber stars for a candid conversation, according to Buzzfeed.
YouTube stars Bethany Mota, GloZell and Hank Green will each sit with the President for five to 10 minute sessions during which they will ask Obama questions gathered through social media. Google will set up a special studio for the interviews inside the White House. The administration will be able to see all potential questions, but they have no say in which questions will be asked by the hosts.
Each of the YouTube hosts regularly garners over 10 million views for the video sharing site. According to Buzzfeed, White House staffers are hoping that by using this social media push, they will draw more young people’s attention to the issues mentioned in the Address.
The State of the Union Address will be broadcasted on Tuesday, January 20 at 9pm EST.Share :
