
UPDATE: Powerful Aftershock Strikes Haiti
A 6.1-magnitude aftershock struck Haiti at 6:03 a.m. today, its epicenter located 36 miles outside of Port-au-Prince, CNN reports. The strongest aftershock since last week's catastrophic earthquake, the shock upset relief and recovery efforts and posed a major threat to buildings on their last leg.
Within moments of the shock, a US Navy medical ship already on its way to Haiti pulled up to the Caribbean nation's shores. The USNS comfort will be treating the quake's severely injured. At 8:45 a.m. one injury from the aftershock had been confirmed.
