Donald Trump is preparing for the third and final presidential debate by bringing his most unlikely supporter along to join the crowd.
President Obama’s half-brother Malik will reportedly be in the audience during Wednesday night’s Las Vegas debate as a guest of Trump, whom he says he’s excited to come and support. “I’m excited to be at the debate,” Malik reportedly told the NY Post. “Trump can make America great again.”
Adding even more confusion to the mix, Malik is also among those who question the women who have recently accused Trump of sexual assault. “I don’t believe them,” he said. “Why didn’t they come forward before?”
As for Malik’s current relationship with POTUS, he last saw his half-brother in August of 2015 when he went to visit the White House. While Trump says he looks forward to meeting Malik and having him present for the debate, the real motive behind the president’s sibling appearing as an ally to someone he’s publicly spoken out against seems to be a personal one. Malik claims he and his family’s village in Kenya would be doing much better “if I had gotten the support I should have gotten from my brother.”
Trump seems confident that Malik will do much to boost his struggling poll numbers ahead of tonight’s debate, but the likelihood of disgusted voters from both parties changing their minds about him in light of support from someone attempting to victim-blame sexual assault survivors remains to be seen.
From a “political” standpoint, Malik has also said that he supports Trump’s opposition to same-sex marriage and was against President Obama’s intervining in the Libya before the killing of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, whom Malik says was a close friend of his.
Malik Obama publicly voiced his support for Donald Trump in July and also made headlines back in 2011 when he married his third wife, who was still in her teens.
