Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa. is announcing his switch from the Republican Party to being a Democrat today, after more than 25 years in office, according to ABC News. President Obama called and welcomed the Pennsylvania politician to the party after hearing the news and shared his delight of having Specter on board. The switch gives Senate Democrats the golden number of 60 members for votes and makes it much easier for legislation of the President to pass. -CJ
