According to one law enforcement source, the shots came from around a bodega on Martin Luther King Drive near Bayview Avenue, where one of the alleged suspects remained. It was feared that the other suspect tried to escape to a nearby school.

New Jersey governor Phil Murphy sent out thoughts and prayers.

I have been briefed on the unfolding situation in Jersey City. Our thoughts and prayers are with the men and women of the Jersey City Police Department, especially with the officers shot during this standoff, and with the residents and schoolchildren currently under lockdown.
