Autopsy results for 18-year-old Paul O’Neal reveal that he died of a fatal gunshot wound to the back, the Chicago Tribune reports. The teen was killed last week following a pursuit that ended in a heated confrontation with Chicago police.
Footage from the body camera worn by the officer believed to have fired the shot mysteriously cuts off at the exact moment that the shot is fired. And now, the latest findings from the Cook County medical examiner add even more mystery to the case.
The shooting occurred after the Jaguar O’Neal was driving allegedly clipped a police vehicle. Though the officer involved initially claimed that he saw O’Neal shooting at the police, authorities later confirmed that O’Neal was unarmed at the time of the incident.

In one of the nine body cam videos released to the public, the officer in question is heard saying, “I didn’t know if he was armed or not,” immediately following the shooting. The video footage also revealed that the other officers on the scene open fire on the Jaguar at the same time as the officer in question claimed O’Neal was shooting at him.
Three of the officers involved were immediately stripped of their titles following the release of the body cam footage. The investigation is ongoing.Share :
