Oprah’s first trip to India hasn’t been peaceful thus far. According to the Associated Press, three of the media maven’s bodyguards were detained for allegedly getting into a scuffle with Indian TV journalists.
The incident is said to have occurred during Oprah’s surprise visit to the Hindu pilgrimage town of Mathura, just south of Delhi, where Indian journalists claim the talk-show host’s bodyguards damaged their video equipment during the altercation. The guards were later released after writing a letter of apology to the journalists.
Oprah is in India for a week to film her new talk show, “Oprah’s Next Chapter” and meet locals – she was reportedly filming at an ashram for child widows when the altercation took place. She’s also been jet setting around the world, having recently left South Africa where celebrated the first graduating class from her school, the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy.
