Even Oprah Winfrey can have moments of weakness when it comes to eating healthy and keeping up with her gym routine. The iconic talk show host has been very open about her weight loss journey and shared details about her complicated relationship with diet and exercise this past Saturday at the Super Soul Sessions in Los Angeles, as reported by People.
“I wanted to be thin,” she said of her past weight loss struggles. “I wasted so much energy, energy and time wanting my thighs to be thin, for my arms not to flap. I had the success and the money, but I was still wanting something different than I had.”
Winfrey admits that she used food to combat stress during her 20 years on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Her “go-to foods” included Spicy Cheetos and Cool Ranch Doritos. And as for her exercising, “Jesus did not want me to workout,” she says, recounting a time she took a hike and sprained her ankle while visiting her ranch in Maui. “I put my leg up and ate and drank all vacation.”
The real “intervention from on high” as Winfrey puts it, came when Weight Watchers gave her a call. “If they were calling me, I must need help!” she stated.
