Remember Officer Feris Jones — the courageous off-duty police officer who stopped an armed robber while having her hair styled at a Brooklyn salon back in October? On Monday, the City of New York honored Jones, now a detective, for her heroism — and her good aim. Jones — who had never fired her gun in 20 years of service — shot suspect Winston Cox, wounding him and knocking his gun out of his hand. “Don’t mess with a woman while she’s getting her hair made up,” City Council member Letitia James said during the presentation. “That’s the most dangerous position to be in. So after she shot him, point blank, they went on to finish her hairstyle and it’s absolutely beautiful. Congratulations Jonesy, you made us all proud.”
