Democratic candidate Barack Obama raised $150 million in donations in September, breaking the record he set in the previous month, according to New York Daily News.
The swelling lead gives the Illinois senator a huge advantage over Republican rival John McCain for television spots and other campaign advertisements in the closing days of the election.
Obama’s war chest allowed him to purchase 30-minute primetime slots on CBS, NBC and FOX. Despite the stunning haul, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe is still urging supporters to donate more money. The Obama camp has attracted 632,000 new donors with the average contribution being under $100. So far, more than 3 million donors have shelled out cash.
