To say we miss President Barack Obama’s presence in the White House would be a huge understatement.
But we’re not the only ones. Pete Souza, who was the chief official White House photographer for President Obama for both terms, has been posting photos to his Instagram account that point to better days.
You’ll notice once scrolling through his beautiful images, there’s certainly a theme. For every controversial executive order, statement or appointment made by President Donald Trump, there’s a photo showing how Obama approached it.

In a sit-down with Vladimir Putin, who was Prime Minister at the time, Souza notes, “It was clear that he was still very much the power man in the country.”
We can’t imagine Trump, who banned all refugees from coming into the country for 120 days, sitting down and chatting with a child refugee at the Dignity for Children Foundation classroom like Obama did.
Souza also shared two telling photos of Obama drinking tequila with President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico and another of him laughing it up with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull of Australia—both leaders who Trump has offended within one week of being in office.
Souza has yet to share new work information, instead leaving “TBD” in his Instagram bio, but we’ll still be scrolling through his account for the sweet memories.
