Some viewers of the inauguration were a bit surprised when they noticed a television ad in which President Obama’s life story was turned into an anti-abortion message. The 41-second spot aired on BET last Tuesday and showed a fetus in a womb with the words “This child’s future is a broken home. He will be abandoned by his father. His single mother will struggle to raise him. This child will become the 1st African-American President, “according to Newsweek.
The ad is scheduled to be the first in a series under the tag line: “Abortion is the enemy of hope.” However, naysayers are concerned that using Obama’s story to argue against abortion seems disingenuous at best and exploitive at worst. –BB
