The rolled vertical chignons at Monique Lhuillier by Bob Recine for Moroccanoil were messy yet pretty. Recine used Moroccanoil Lumionus Hairspray Medium to give the hair texture then he “pulled the hair back, made two ponytails and twisted them.” He rolled each pony up, tucked inthe end, and secured each roll with bobby pins.

James Pecis (for Beauty.com) created a “gypsy traveler” inspired mane at Nanette Lepore. “Nanette doesn’t mind seeing a hair pin,” says Pecis. “In fact she likes them, so this girl has to have messy hair—like she could be in a Tim Burton film.”

A thin braid secured long, loose waves at Badgley Mischka. Peter Gray created the look using Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse to give the front of the hair its sleek look.

Hairstylist Garren was inspired by photos of Anna May Wong, the first Chinese American movie star, when creating blunt fringe and bobs at Anna Sui.
At Tibi, Aveda Global Creative Director Antoinette Beenders showed that pastoral and urban can meet in the middle. To create the center braid, take a one-inch section of hair and French braid, stopping at the crown.
