A new reality series will document the restoration of Nina Simone’s childhood home.

The show, which will air on the History Channel and PBS, will retell Simone’s story of growing up in Tryon, North Carolina and will give viewers an inside look at the process of renovating her birth home.

Plans to preserve Simone’s home have been in order for the last ten years, since her death in 2003.

The restoration will be made possible through donations given through a non-profit charitable fund set up by Nineteenth Century Restorations, a Kansas-based company specializing in home restorations. The refurbished home will serve as a memorial to the iconic singer.

Several other historical black figures like Rosa Parks and Jimi Hendrix are set to have their previous homes renovated on the series as well.
