The misunderstanding began when a fan tweeted Cher saying Nicki had “dissed” her on the track “Did It On ‘Em.” The lyric the fan referred to states, “If you could turn back time, Cher/ You used to be here, now you’re gone, Nair.” Cher, seeming to question Nicki’s longevity, wrote, “I’ve seen lots of people come & go! No biggie!”

Cher’s response did not sit well with Nicki’s boyfriend Safaree Samuels who hit back with a profanity-laced tweet to Cher suggesting that she listen to the song first and that the lyric is only a metaphor.

Nicki also chimed in, tweeting “#Stopit” to Cher. Realizing she she may have spoken too soon, Cher wrote, “Someone said I was dissed. I’ve been dissed b4, but instead of finding out. I just got defensive! I should have known better! Dumb.”
Cher later deleted her tweets but not before the blogosphere caught wind of the back and forth.
