The New Spider-Man is Half-Black

Spread the word! There’s a new superhero in town and guess what ladies? He’s a multi-culti cutie.

Marvel Comics’ newest superhero Miles Morales half-Black, half-Latino. Miles takes over as the new Spider-Man and appears in “Ultimate Fallout,” a comic book from the “Ultimate Spider-Man” series.

Brian Michael Bendis, who has written every issue of “Ultimate Spider-Man,” wanted to create a new character from a “completely different” background and world view, he told the Associated Press.

Axel Alonso, Marvel’s editor-in-chief said that creating Miles as half-Black was a conscious effort to celebrate multiculturalism. “Here at Marvel, we pride ourselves on reflecting the real world in all its diversity,” he said.

That’s a refreshing turn of events.
