Former South African President Nelson Mandela was admitted to the hospital on Saturday after experiencing stomach pains, reports the Huffington Post.  The exact cause of Mandela’s abdominal illness has not been released, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

Mandela “has had a long-standing abdominal complaint and doctors feel it needs proper specialist medical attention,” President Jacob Zuma said in a statement Saturday morning. A follow-up statement was later released, adding that 93-year-old Mandela had undergone a planned, undisclosed “diagnostic procedure” and that “he is not in any danger.”

While there is no word on what hospital Mandela has been admitted to, he is expected to be discharged Sunday or Monday.

This is the second public health scare in recent years for the former president who was hospitalized last year after suffering from an acute respiratory infection.
