National Girlfriends Day: You and Your Girls, Then and Now

It’s true what they say: Boyfriends may come and go, but true friends really are here to stay. For many of us, the longest and most consistent relationships in our lives have been those we share with our closest girlfriends. We celebrate weddings, engagements and new motherhood so often that it’s easy to overlook those other extra special relationships we depend on — the bonds we share with our girlfriends.

Whether we met them on the playground, shared a locker in high school or bonded during times in the dorm freshman year, the one thing we’ve always been able to count on is that our best friends always have our backs.

Today is National Girlfriends Day, and there’s no better time to rejoice in the beauty of sisterhood and pay tribute to the other loves of our lives — our girls!
