In the age of President Barack Obama it seems odd that this country still has a need for an organization named the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Yet the unemployment rate for Blacks remains twice that for Whites, according to The Washington Post. In two studies, noted the paper, White employers preferred White males with criminal backgrounds to equally qualified African-American men without them. While we all look forward to the day when the NAACP need not exist, it seems as though that day is not here just yet.—-BB
