Who else but Lil John Roberts could assemble R&B heavyweights like Eric Roberson, Anthony David, Stokely Williams and Musiq Soulchild for a song? After 20 years of backing the likes of Mary J. Blige, Prince, Janet Jackson and TLC (whom he’s currently on tour with), “everybody’s favorite drummer” has finally released his first solo album, The Heartbeat.
His soulful debut also includes guest appearances by ESSENCE Festival performer Robert Glasper and Grammy winners Snarky Puppy.
