Niecy Nash and Cedric the Entertainer are teaming up to make us laugh again, this time, as husband and wife on TV Land’s latest sitcom Soul Man.
The comedy follows the life of Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine, a R&B singer transitioning to a new career as a pastor. His wife, played by Nash, is a spunky first lady who is still learning to navigate life in and out of the church.
Cedric says fans will enjoy how down-to-earth the characters are. “There is this expectation that in the world of religion you’ve got to become so docile and so holier-than-thou that you can’t be a real person,” he said in a behind-the-scenes video from the set. Nash agrees, “You actually get to see that we love each other and have fun in our relationship.”
