Pre-teen sensation Willow Smith takes her fans on an emotional roller coaster with her new song, “Sugar and Spice.” The dramatic ballad is a big departure from her usual pop and fun “Whip My Hair” and “Fireball” tunes and instead drives down a lane of sadness and despair.
She sings, “I try to be sugar and spice/ But I’m melancholy can’t do anything right/…Sad he’s always screaming at me/ They wanna puncture me and then wonder why I bleed/ The big city everyone is looking/ Step on my ladder and bathe in glory/ Inject my soul with darkness.”
What do you think of Smith’s new song? What message do you think she’s trying to send with her lyrics?
