For the last two weeks, I have been on tour visiting Bloomingdale’s department stores around the country and talking about relationships and fashion. What we wear plays a critical role in the dating process, and it is empowering to know we have absolute control over the message our clothing sends. On tour with me is my good friend, Celebrity Fashion Stylist and Image Consultant, Carlton Spence. I’ve learned a tremendous amount from him that can help you, and I’m sharing. Ladies, here are 12 easy fashion tips that will help you turn more heads.
Achieving the perfect fit begins with the right undergarments. Visit your local specialty department store, go to the lingerie department and get a bra fitting to determine the right bra for your body type and size. You will instantly look and feel confident.
To achieve a flawless, natural look he’ll love, apply makeup and add a dewy lip to enhance your face. If you prefer a more bold and daring look, wear red lipstick to get his attention.
Wear simple and tasteful jewelry to catch his eye. Too much jewelry will make you look cheap. When in doubt, less is more.
The belt is the perfect accessory to pair with garments that are not contoured to fit at the waist. Wear a belt that is proportionate to your size to define your waistline.
A wrap dress in a matte jersey fabric with lycra or spandex complements almost every body type, especially the curvy woman. Don’t forget to wear Spanx (shaper or tights) to enhance your shape.
For the casual date, opt to wear the perfect fitting jean that is not too tight in a medium or dark wash, paired with a jacket and a feminine blouse. It exudes an effortless look that is sexy without trying too hard. Don’t forget to wear some heels to complete the look.
Opaque hosiery worn with a short skirt or dress elongates your leg when worn with a tonal shoe or bootie.
Fishnets, nylons and textured hosiery are modern and ultra feminine. They add sensuality and allure when wearing a dress or skirt.
When wearing a sheer blouse paired with a skirt, select a bra with lace detail in a hue closest to your skin tone to achieve modesty and femininity.
You can never go wrong in a stunning pair of heels because it accentuates your legs. Select a whimsical pop of color for day, like red if you are wearing classic black and white, or a metallic for evening for elegance and shine. The peep toe pump is flirtatious and always sexy.
Always wear clothes in your true size to look and feel comfortable. Clothes that are too tight or big take away from your shape and are not attractive.
Carry a small handbag or clutch instead of an oversized purse. Express your individuality and select a complementary color that will add interest to your outfit, instead of matching the handbag to your shoes.
