Milan Runways Lacking Diversity

Italian designers are taking no hints from all-Black issue of Vogue Italia

Apparently the all-Black issue of Vogue Italia didn’t appeal to Italian designers.

The runways at Milan Spring 2009 Fashion Week were less than diverse. Giorgio Armani, Marni and Jil Sander had no Black models on the runway. Major fashion houses Fendi, Versace, Prada, Gucci and Missoni all cast one Black model. The only major fashion house to create a diverse show was Bottega Veneta who cast four Black women to wear its clothes.

Spring 2009 Paris Fashion Week starts this week. Maybe Black models are just waiting to walk there?
