Are House Republicans trying to change the way Mrs. Obama does her job as First Lady? The ranking GOP member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Rep. Darrell Issa, is trying to force first spouses to do their policy work in public in an effort to “protect the historic role of first lady,” according to Politico.com. That means, any government policy group that Mrs. Obama or any first spouse regularly engages in would be subject to a law requiring meetings to be convened in public because the first lady would officially be seen as a federal employee. Democrats have warned their Republican counterparts that the President may take this as a personal attack against his wife, stirring up a fight they’re probably not prepared to make.-WLW
