First Lady Michelle Obama will deliver a commencement speech for George Washington University’s class of 2010 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. today. Mrs. Obama agreed to speak under one condition: GW students, faculty and staff had to complete 100,000 hours of community service before May 1. They met the challenge, with more than 3,800 participating in the service project by painting homes for Habitat for Humanity, cleaning a high school in D.C. and volunteering with after-school programs. She is the third First Lady in the University’s history to speak and will be addressing an audience of approximately 25,000.
