The official trailer for Michael has arrived, offering audiences an early look at the big-screen portrait of Michael Jackson and the path that carried him from child performer to global superstar.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the drama follows Jackson’s life both onstage and behind the scenes, revisiting the early days of the Jackson 5 and the years that shaped his solo career. At the center is Jaafar Jackson, the singer’s nephew, who steps into the lead role. The trailer shows him recreating some of MJ’s signature choreography, along with showing powerful quotes from its cast.
“Let me tell you something. In this life, you’re either a winner or you’re a loser,” said Colman Domingo, who plays Michael’s father, Joe Jackson, in the trailer. “Y’all wanna work in a steel mill like me for the rest of your days? Because I sure as hell don’t. Y’all willing to fight for it?”
Alongside Jaafar and Domingo, Nia Long portrays Katherine Jackson, while Miles Teller plays longtime adviser John Branca, and Kat Graham plays Motown icon Diana Ross. Newcomer Juliano Valdi plays a young Michael during the Jackson 5-era.
The project has been in development for years and faced several date shifts. It is now set to open in theaters and IMAX on April 24, 2026. Lionsgate Films will release the film domestically, with Universal Pictures handling international distribution.
