Miami Heat Pays Tribute to Trayvon Martin

The Miami Heat pays tribute to Trayvon Martin by wearing hoodies before game.

As the fight for justice for Trayvon Martin continues, NBA stars from the Miami Heat quietly paid tribute to Martin at a basketball game last night in Auburn Hills, MI.

At the game, LeBron James wrote, “RIP Trayvon Martin,” on his shoes, while teammate Chris Bosch wrote “We Want Justice” on his, reports the Detroit Free Press.

This quiet act came only a few hours after James and Miami Heat guard Dwayne Wade tweeted the above photo of the team wearing hoodies at their hotel earlier on Friday. Martin was killed while wearing a hooded sweatshirt and in the weeks following his death, the garment has widely become a symbol in his honor. “#WeAreTrayvonMartin  #Hoodies  #Stereotyped  #WeWantJustice,” James wrote along with the photo on Twitter.

“I think the only thing we want is we just want to make sure that we shed some light on the situation and let (people) know this is not just something happening in the community where it happened,” Wade said following last night’s game against the Detroit Pistons. “This is worldwide. We want to be a part of it until justice is served.”

The Heat team is planning to continue their quiet tribute at tomorrow’s game in Oklahoma City.
