Last week, we found out that Beyonce and Solange’s daddy was selling his A-list daughters’ belongings in a garage sale. This left some of us scratching our heads.
But now, the Houston father is addressing the rumor mill and claiming that he’s not strapped for cash or exploiting his girls; he was simply trying to have a garage sale to make space in the Music World Entertainment Complex, where he works.
“If I needed money, I wouldn’t sell $5 t-shirts,” he said to Houston’s NBC affiliate, Click 2 Houston. “I’d sell a Grammy or an MTV award. So that is insulting to think we need to sell $5 t-shirts.”
The sale featured piles of albums and clothing, including some t-shirts dating back from Yonce’s Destiny Child days.
But Knowles was adament that this wasn’t a conniving act. He’s hoping to expand the complex, which houses a recording studio, in the next five years, and he just needed to make space.
“Somehow, [organizing a garage sale] became we are going out of business, homeless and selling all of Beyonce’s stuff to stay alive, which, as you can see, it’s just the opposite,” he said.
