Mariah Carey will be releasing her new album on her own terms, taking a surprise approach to the release of her new music.
Mariah Carey is taking a page from the Beyonce playbook with the release of her next album.
In a new Billboard interview, the “Beautiful” star revealed that she will be taking a surprise approach to her new album, debuting the title, track listing, artwork and music all at once with digital partners.
“I have to be the one that announces this, especially the title,” said Carey, sharing that the title is named after a, “personal possession of mine that’s part of an entity that I’ve had almost all my life.”
Carey is partnering with Jermaine Dupri on the long-awaited project. The pair spoke about the tumultuous journey to the release of the new album, including low record sales for her last album, Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, a dramatic stint on American Idol and her recent shoulder injury.
The upcoming album sees Carey teaming up with old friends, Jermaine Dupri and Rodney Jerkins as well as adding new flavor with producers like Hit-Boy and guest features from Wale and Trey Songz. Fans can expect big ballads and up-tempo hits from the new album that Carey describes as “my life since I last left off.”
