Today, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class 2014 was announced and hip-hop legends LL Cool J and N.W.A. were not selected for induction.

The honor will be given to Nirvana, KISS, Hall and Oates, Peter Gabriel, Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens.

Nominations went out in mid-October highlighting the artists who were up for induction. Both rap acts were returning nominees from the previous year.

According to the rules, artists are eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first album.

Last year, Heart, Albert King, Randy Newman, Public Enemy, Rush and Donna Summer were among the performers selected for induction.
