This year’s ESSENCE Festival was truly one for the books, and many of the greatest moments came from some of today’s rising R&B talents.
American Idol starlet La’Porsha Renae was easily the favorite of the show’s final season, which ended back in April, and she brought her immense talent to New Orleans over the weekend to give ESSENCE Fest attendees a taste of what’s to come in the near future. Stopping by the press room just before hitting the stage, La’Porsha effortlessly belted out her rendition of “Summertime.”

Following the end of American Idol, La’Porsha announced that she’d signed a recording contract with Motown Records and has since continued performing around the country while working on new music. If this is any indication of what to expect, we can’t wait!
