Interior design maven and host of HGTV’s “Myles of Style,” Kim Myles, will answer a question submitted from an ESSENCE.com reader every day. Kim believes that interior design should offer a lifestyle that’s chic, vibrant and attainable for every homeowner or renter. “My goal is to offer simple solutions that help the average person achieve the look that they want without going into debt. There is absolutely no reason for great design to be overly expensive or exclusive,” she declares. Today’s topic: Chocolate Brown Bedroom Dear Kim, I thought about painting two walls in my master badroom a shade of light blue and the other two walls a dark shade of chocolate. How can I accessorize with these colors? Are these colors okay for a bedroom? Please help… KIM MYLES: I think that’s a beautiful and restful palette for a bedroom. I’d suggest allowing the blue and chocolate to be the only hues in the space, and I’d accessorize by concentrating on interesting finishes versus color. Try adding a beautiful Venetian style mirror and a few mercury glass vases or candlesticks. Consider incorporating visual interest via a beautiful print in the curtains or a runner for your dresser, but be sure to stick to blue, brown, or creme.
