Just when we thought designers had thought of everything, Antonio Berardi goes and takes away the heel. And this is no ballet flat.

Berardi’s head-turning heelless boots and pumps are weighted in the platform in an attempt to keep brave fashionistas from tipping over, and it appeared to work on the runway. Models walked down a concrete catwalk without a single wobble. That’s quite a feat, because models have fallen before, even without such movement-challenging shoes.

Take Naomi Campbell, who took a famous spill in 10-inch platforms at a Vivienne Westwood show in 1993. And just last month two models tumbled in sky-high snakeskin heels at the Prada show in Milan.

Perhaps we’ll try these fancy shoes if they show up at the discount store. Until then, we’ll enjoy watching models walk en pointe.
