Kenya Moore says she’s lucky to have survived an abusive relationship when she was younger.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star tells The Grio’s Chris Witherspoon that she dated a much older man when she was in high school. “He was every bit of what you would think an abuser would be,” she said.
“He tormented me physically, mentally and once even nearly killed me by putting me into the hospital, from attacking me with a finger nail file… stabbing me with a finger nail file.”
Moore said she actually feels blessed for the experience because it taught her to know the signs of an abuser early on. “I know what to look out for and whenever I see a hint of it I don’t choose to be with that person.”
What would the former Miss USA tell any woman in an abusive relationship? My advice if someone is experiencing that they need to tell someone, they need to confide in someone that can help them,” she said.
