Illinois Senator Roland Burris might get some company very soon in the Senate. Florida Congressman Kendrick Meek, who is also African-American, announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate yesterday, making him the first major candidate to run in the 2010 race, according to the Associated Press. Meek sits on the Ways & Means Committee and is said to have the ear of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.—WLW
