Police: Video Footage Does Not Clearly Show Keith Lamont Scott Holding A Gun

Police are switching up their story about what was captured on the video footage of Keith Lamont Scott’s last moments of life before being fatally shot by an officer.

The Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police Department was initially confident that the video footage would fully corroborate their reports that Scott was armed and “threatening” at the time the officer opened fire on him, but now it seems they are singing a different tune. It was revealed on Thursday that police have decided against releasing the footage to the public, but did issue a statement declaring the video clip “inconclusive” in providing for a concrete answer as to whether or not Scott was actually in holding a gun just before he was shot.

Meanwhile, the Scott family also had a chance to view the footage for the first time on Thursday and upon doing so, they immediately began calling for police to release it to the public. The family offered only a few details as to exactly what was seen on the tape following Thursday’s viewing, but described Scott’s demeanor at the time of the shooting was “calm” and “not aggressive.”
