Keith Slater, a Kansas City, Missouri, man says when he returned a pair of shoes to Journeys, a store in a local mall, he was handed a receipt with a racial slur printed on it. The receipt read “Cust: Dumb” and then the N-word followed. Slater never got a full explanation about what happened other than an employee entered a generic code. Journeys’ corporate office later issued a statement saying that the company is investigating the incident and that the employee who made the inappropriate mistake had been terminated.
