U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick on Friday night dismissed a lawsuit filed by attorney Philip J. Berg which challenged Barack Obama’s qualifications to be president, reports the Associated Press. The suit stems from many Internet conspiracy theories questioning whether Senator Obama is a “natural-born citizen” (a requirement by the Constitution to become president) and whether he lost his citizenship while living overseas.
The suit also claims that the Democratic nominee is not a U.S. citizen and therefore is ineligible for the presidency. He suggested that Obama was either a native of Kenya or became a citizen of Indonesia.
Surrick wrote that he believed the case was “frivolous and not worthy of discussion.” Obama was born in Hawaii.
