WGN’S highly-anticipated slave narrative series, Underground, is one thing, but the music is on an entirely different level. View the trailer above to watch executive producer John Legend at work, incorporating a bit of Kanye, a little Alice Smith and a children’s choir. The music of Underground is sure to be a thriller.

The 10-episode drama follows a group of enslaved men and women who use their ingenuity, power and perseverance to attempt the greatest risk of their lives: escpaing slavery. Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge (Straight Outta Compton), Christopher Meloni and Empire’s Jussie Smollet co-star.

Underground premieres March 9, 2016 on WGN America.
