Designer Jean-Paul Gaultier has always been inspired by global beauty and the richness of tribal cultures—and his Spring/Summer 2010 Haute Couture collection, shown yesterday at Paris Fashion Week, was no exception. An Aztec fantasy infused with hints of Africana (check the elaborate cornrowed headpieces—gorgeous), the collection brought Paris to its knees. And in a climate where the runway model standard is a fourteen-year-old from Slovakia, we were thrilled to see the amount of gorgeous women of color Gaultier sent storming down his catwalk. Here, Dominican supermodel Sessilee Lopez rocks the runway in an artfully shredded evening gown and elaborate headdress.
