Janelle Monáe continues to have a stellar year.
On top of releasing a successful sophomore album, The Electric Lady, the singer will be recognized with Billboard’s Rising Star award come December.
The event, also honoring P!nk with the Woman of the Year award, will be held in New York City on December 10th.
“Being recognized for your hard work and passion is always humbling and encouraging,” said Monáe. “I feel honored Billboard has taken note of my journey in the music industry thus far. I hope by receiving this award I’m encouraging aspiring acts to stay true to their own artistic visions and never give up.”
Billboard’s Editorial Director Bill Werde is just as excited about the upcoming event honoring ESSENCE Festival alumna. “From her distinctive style to her unexpected collaborations, Janelle is truly carving her own path in this industry,” he said.
