Ja Rule found an unexpected new hobby while serving his two-year sentence for illegal gun possession. He became a cook—whipping up “pretty good” meals using only the microwave.

“I really didn’t eat prison food,” he told TMZ. “In jail, they’re pretty crafty. We made lasagna, we made cheesecakes, we had lot of things.”

The rapper—nee Jeffrey Atkins—is putting his new skills behind a new cookbook of microwave recipes, he announced on the SiriusXM show, Food Talk.

Ja Rule has been busy since his May 2013 release. He’s starring in the film I’m in Love with a Church Girl with Andrienne Bailon (out now). And now, a cookbook.

We wonder what sorts of recipes will be in the cookbook?
