Ivanka Trump's choice of words to describe her father had the whole world scratching their heads.
There’s certainly been no shortage of questionable moments from the 2016 Republican National Convention so far and Donald Tump’s daughter Ivanka is the latest to take the stage with a quotable that had more than a few viewers completely puzzled.
Ivanka briefly addressed the Thursday night crowd at the RNC where she delivered a pointed speech about her childhood upbringing under her father’s guidance before going on to bring him to the stage. During the closing remarks that led to her introduction, Ivanka made an attempt to do a little damage control by attempting to paint her father as someone who is equally accepting of people of all races and genders. “There have always been men of all backgrounds on my father’s job sites,” she said. “And long before it was commonplace, you also saw women.” She continued on to describe her father using words that reflect the exact opposite of who Trump has consistently proven to be throughout his career and presidential campaign. “My father values talents, He recognizes real knowledge and skill when he finds it. He is colorblind and gender neutral. He hires the best person for the job period.”
Naturally, Twitter was thoroughly confused by Ivanka’s choice of wording when describing her father and had no problem letting her know it.
#IvankaTrump: 'My father is colorblind.' Being colorblind is a luxury for those whose race never affects them. Not worthy of applause.— Erin Entrada Kelly (@erinkellytweets) July 22, 2016
#IvankaTrump is playing opposite game. She just said Trump is colorblind and gender neutral.— Katherine K (@KMKTweetsNow) July 22, 2016
