Idris Elba Lands Leading Role in 'Pacific Rim'

Idris Elba is having one heck of a year.

First he starred in the blockbuster “Thor” earlier this year, now he’s been cast to star as the lead in a new film called “Pacific Rim,” reports Deadline.com.

Elba, who has had a string of high-profile roles of late, will play the role of Sensi in the sci-fi action flick about humans devising robots to save the planet from aliens. Deadline also reports that the role was originally developed for Tom Cruise.
