The queen of all divas turns 68 today. Diana Ernestine Earl Ross was born on March 26, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan. She would go on to become a defining part of the city’s breakout Motown sound as the lead singer of the legendary group The Supremes and eventually embark on a glamorous solo career.
With a career that spans four decades, Ms. Ross, isn’t called “The Boss” for nothing. Her career has defined a number of musical genres from doo-wop, to soul, to disco and R&B, and we’ve loved her through each era. Earlier this year, despite never winning a Grammy, she was given the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award for her illustrious career.
At 68, Ross is still turning us “Upside down … inside out and round and round.” We wish her many more beautiful years to come.
Happy 68th Birthday, Diana Ross!
