Holly caught the acting bug young, making her first TV appearance on “Sesame Street,” where her father Matt Robinson played Gordon, at just four years old.
Holly married former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete in 1995. Fifteen years later the couple are considered one of Hollywood’s most solid unions. “We have fun together, we have date nights and do things that we did when we didn’t have kids. We keep the spark,” Peete said of keeping their marriage going.
The Robinson-Peete’s have four children together.
Holly co-authored the children’s book, “My Brother Charlie” with daughter Ryan Elizabeth about her son, Rodney Jr. who was diagnosed with autism when he was three years old.
The Robinson-Peete’s started the Hollyrod Foundation in memory of her father, Matthew Robinson’s, struggles with Parkinson’s disease. The organization helps people affected with PD with financial and medical assistance.
The Robinson-Peete’s also started the HollyRod4Kids foundation to help families affected by autism.
Holly signed on to Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” to help spread the word about autism. Though she lost in a tight race, she’ll always be a winner in our book.
ESSENCE.com wishes this outstanding actress, philanthropist and mom a happy 46th birthday.
