Over 100,000 members from the nine Greek-lettered organizations – representing over two million African-American college-educated men and women – have committed to President-elect Barack Obama’s call to national service on Monday, January 19, in honor of Dr. King, according to BlackNews.com. The service activities will include volunteering at soup kitchens, homeless shelters, promoting prenatal care, organizing blood drives, visiting nursing homes, and comforting the ill, just to name a few.
